I was inspired to create Read and Ride Adventures from the wonderful ways I’ve been touched throughout my life by Newark and its people.
From a childhood of playing with friends in the South Ward, playing football and basketball at Ripple Field, Cooper and Weequahic Parks, teaching in Newark Public Schools and even owning a neighborhood store, my spirit has always been energized by the “Brick City.” These experiences along with the creativity stimulated by reading gave me the physical and mental strength to take advantage of many opportunities. With Read and Ride Adventures, my goal is to make sure young people get the chances they deserve.
